Brave New World: Cosmetic Wardrobing
If you were to apply the concepts of personal shopping, style consulting, and closet organization from fashion to beauty, you’d come up with cosmetic wardrobing—or at least the good folks at the John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman did when branding their new service. As the exclusive purveyor of Le Métier de Beauté, the niche cosmetics line that views makeup as a luxury craft rather than a vehicle for vanity, the salon now offers a bespoke beauty program, in which resident makeup artist Lynsey Laskowski assesses and corrects your current makeup regimen while teaching you proper application tips and doling out product recommendations. But this isn’t just about pushing product. Customers are actually encouraged to bring in their current makeup—which may or may not be silently judged (side note: There’s nothing wrong with keeping a few Wet n Wild mainstays around. They make a mean bronzer). Laskowski will then work with what you’ve got while merely offering “suggestions” for products that could “complement” your collection. Each two-hour appointment costs $400, which includes a $200 value in products. For more information or to book an appointment, call (212) 872-2700. Article and photo courtesy of Style.com
